A family business on a traditional Savo farm – our story and roots
Hanhenlento is a family-run business with deep roots in the agricultural traditions of the Savo region. Set in the peaceful lakeside scenery of Nieminen, only about 15 kilometres from the centre of Iisalmi, the farm has been home to generations of life and work.
A new chapter began in 2005–2016
Dairy farming ended in 2005, and the farm was transferred to the next generation in 2016. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, where rural expertise and the possibilities offered by the farm began to take on new forms.
Hanhenlento was born in 2021
Hanhenlento was established in 2021, with the farm animals and everyday life alongside them becoming the heart of the business.
Farm animals and guided animal encounters – animals as part of everyday life
The animals are part of everyday life at Hanhenlento, not simply attractions. Visitors can explore the farm animals independently or book a guided animal encounter, offering a deeper insight into the animals’ lives, care and behaviour.
We can also bring the animals to your event or location
If you cannot visit Hanhenlento, selected animals can also come to you for events and visits.
Opening hours – regular summer opening, other times by arrangement
The farm animal area is open regularly during the summer season. At other times of the year, visits can be arranged in advance.
Accommodation, wellbeing days and activities in a farm setting
Alongside the farm animal experiences, Hanhenlento has developed into a diverse destination offering a variety of countryside experiences.
The farm offers cottage and experience accommodation, wellbeing and recreation days for groups and workplaces, activity services, as well as rental spaces for celebrations and evening gatherings.
Hanhenlento provides a setting for a peaceful holiday, a shared workday or meaningful celebrations surrounded by the countryside.
Campfire sites, nature and outdoor activities – berries, mushrooms and forest trails
The farmyard, campfire sites and surrounding nature invite visitors to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.
The nearby forests offer opportunities for berry and mushroom picking – just as people have traditionally done in the countryside for generations.
Tarinaliiteri Home Museum – local history during the summer
During the summer season, the Tarinaliiteri Home Museum opens a window into local history and the past decades of life on the farm.
A responsible countryside destination – everyday choices and respect for nature
At Hanhenlento, responsibility is reflected in everyday choices. Recycling, the efficient use of the farm’s existing resources and respect for nature guide all activities.
Hanhenlento is a place where rural life, animals and the surrounding environment come together as an authentic and sustainable experience – rooted in real everyday life and brought into the present day.
